891 Pounds Lighter: A Massive Success at the Lake Monroe Cleanup!

Florida summers don’t mess around, and neither do our incredible volunteers! Despite the absolutely blistering heat this past weekend, our community showed up in a big way to give back to the environment and show some serious love to Sanford’s waterfront.

Here is a look at what we accomplished together during our latest cleanup event.

The Impact by the Numbers

When we say our volunteers put in the work, we mean it. We spent the day sweating it out, hauling bags, and making a tangible difference along the water.

  • Distance Covered: A 2.5-mile stretch along the beautiful Lake Monroe.
  • Total Volunteers: Over 30 dedicated individuals braved the sweltering temperatures to lend a hand.
  • Trash Removed: An astonishing 891 pounds of litter and debris were successfully removed from the shoreline and surrounding areas!

That is nearly half a ton of trash that will no longer pollute our waterways or harm our local wildlife.

A Massive Thank You to Our Community

An event like this doesn’t happen without a strong, passionate community backing it up.

First and foremost, a huge shoutout to all the members of the Downtown Sanford Run Club. You traded in your running shoes for trash grabbers this weekend, and your energy and heavy-lifting made a world of difference out there!

We also want to extend our deepest gratitude to our fantastic local partners. After sweating it out in the sun, there is nothing better than a cold drink and good food. Thank you to the following Sanford staples for generously offering food and drink discounts to reward our hardworking volunteers:

Thank you again to everyone who came out, picked up a bag, or supported us from afar. Keep an eye out for our next community cleanup date—we can’t wait to see you there!
